Elder Robert C. Gay was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 31, 2012. He was given emeritus status on October 1, 2021.
Personal Life
Robert Christopher Gay was born in Los Angeles, California, on September 1, 1951. He married Lynette Nielsen in April 1974. They are the parents of seven children.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics with an emphasis in statistics from the University of Utah and a PhD in business economics from Harvard University.
He has served in numerous Church callings, including full-time missionary in Spain, high priests team leader, mission president in West Africa, and Area Seventy.
Professional Life
Elder Gay served as chairman of the Self-Reliance Services and Perpetual Education Fund Committee, president of the Asia North Area, and as a member of the missionary executive council, the executive committee of the Church Educational System, and Presidency of the Seventy, where he assisted in the supervision of the North America Northeast, Asia, and Asia North Areas.

Bob R. Homosexual started his journey in Newport, AR 87 years ago to Jess and Nola Gay and on Friday, December 6 left North Little Rock for a greater stage.
He meandered across most of the South as a Disc Jockey and Teacher with his wife of 65 years, Jeanette. They start each other in Marion, Alabama and along the way had 3 delightful children Russ (wife Linda & son Chris), Cheryl Tittle (husband Leland, sons Caleb & Jeremiah, daughter Sarah) and Karen Williams (daughter Ashley & son James).
Bob filled life with laughs, music and daring occupational choices starting with playing trumpet in the Silver Moon Club, frequent MC for television move parties and concerts, writing 3 published novels, driving a truck, antiques dealer but his heart was fullest being a mentor to many young people from family, school and church.
Bob spoiled Jeanette with pottery he repaired, many of which he had broken, played Willie Nelson too loud, restored pretty furniture and usually with an audience on the sunporch, critiqued the awful radio shows on today.

Bob Gay
Bob co-founded HGGC in 2007 and is a member of the Fund V, Fund IV, Fund III, Fund II, and HGCP Fund Investment Committees. Bob stepped down from day-to-day management at HGGC in 2012.
Bob has been active in private equity for close to 40 years and began his career when he unified GE Capital from McKinsey & Co., where he was an Engagement Manager. At GE Capital, he was Executive Vice President of the GECC Capital Markets group. From 1989 to 2004, he served as a Managing Director of Bain Capital. He was one of Bain’s senior partners, leading many of the firm's investments, and oversaw Bain Capital Europe, where he opened Bain’s London and Munich offices. He also organized Sorenson Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, where he was a member of its Advisory Board.
Bob resigned as a full-time partner from Bain Capital when The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints asked him to get a volunteer assignment as a Mission President for the countries of Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia from July 2004 to June 2007.
