For many, June represents the month of pride; a time to celebrate, teach and communicate all that is queer, gay and fabulous. Although today organism gay isn’t much of a deal, back in the 50’s it was a dangerous label to have. Throughout history, thousands have lost their lives because they were labeled as ‘gay’ or ‘queer’ and many lived out their true sexual preferences in secrecy. As it’s almost the end of Pride month, I wanted to have a watch at some celebrities from the golden age of Hollywood who were homosexual, or at least thats what the rumours said. It’s difficult to realize if all these celebrities, and of course many more, were truly homosexual, but I wanted to share a few stories just so see how far we’ve come. Cheerful pride everyone.

Hollywood and the entertainment industry acquire a history of creature hotbeds of controversy and rumors, but many contain made use of it as a platform to inspire and influence the masses.
It is today inhabited by people of various racial backgrounds, faiths, cultures, and even sexual orientations. Hollywood has steadfastly backed the cause in a culture where “LGBTQ+” are still stigmatized.
Since the 1980s, Hollywood celebrities hold been bold in exposing their sexuality to the public, and up to this date, Hollywood is gradually improving its portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community.
When it comes to same treatment and opportunity for many people in the show business industry, we still have a drawn-out way to go, but as the number of publicly prominent gay stars increases each year and public support for them does as well, it won’t be long until the playing field of society’s treatment is leveled.
In fact, encouraged by the lower likelihood of backlash directed at them, an increasing number of actors and singers are coming out and publicizing their gender.

These days, it's common for celebrities to publicly come out as gay in the media, but that wasn't always the case. Several famous gay celebrities remained in the closet throughout their entire lives.

Liberace's friend, Betty White, has stated that the musician was, in fact, homosexual. Other secretly closeted movie stars involve Rock Hudson, Anthony Perkins, and Robert Reed.
