ALLENTOWN — In , when Candida&#;s Bar first opened its doors, it wasn&#;t the only gay lock in Allentown. The Stonewall had been open several years, and other well-loved establishments had popped up, offering havens for the city&#;s LGBT population.
What put Candida&#;s apart was its location, recalled Liz Bradbury, an Allentown resident for the past three decades. &#;It was always a very bold space, a strong room, a woman-owned space,&#; said Bradbury, a gay rights activist who lives a few blocks from Candida&#;s. &#;I thought it was terrific, and I felt the strength of that from the beginning.&#;
