Experience Barnsley is the memory box of the whole borough, and we collect objects from just yesterday to thousands of years ago to narrate stories about people’s lives. We are proud that this includes the stories of our LGBTQ+ group and the contribution they have made to Barnsley. Historically LGBTQ+ histories, similar to those of other minorities were hidden, and thus we have to work harder to reconstruct this history. What Is Chemsex?
Chemsex is the practice of taking drugs, often GHB, mephedrone and/or methamphetamine, for the specific purpose of facilitating sexual activity between male lover men. The term chemsex also refers to the parties, often hosted by dealers of chemsex drugs, where men meet up to take drugs and have sex.
Chemsex is separate to sex that takes place after gay men have used recreational drugs coincidentally. Instead, chemsex is the intentional use of drugs to fuel, augment or prolong sexual activity.

It’s that second of year again as the gay community gears itself up for various pride events. Kicking of this season of celebration is my home town of Blackpool where, over the 17th and 18th May, fun, frolics and no doubt a several pink feathery boas will be on the loose. I love these self-acceptance events and I shall be attending as many as I can. If you spot me… approach and say “Hello” and encourage me to maintain up my training because… Mr Gay Europe is soon to happen and I need my body to be in suggestion top shape if I’m to stand any chance.
I must mention the fantastic night I had recently presenting the Leeds Owlies awards. This event is a great way for towns or cities to recognise the efforts and achievements of different LGBT venues and organizations. It was great to view people given some recognition from their own communities for work that is often over-looked… and I guess it’s always amazing to receive an award… I know I devote it!!!
